ABOUT US

Welcome to Old Red Mill Taphouse & Grille, where history, hospitality, and hearty food come together in the heart of downtown Lewisburg.

Our story begins with a family, a name, and a dream. Amy Mills—owner of the beloved Amy’s Market next door—always envisioned expanding into a second restaurant. When the neighboring space became available, she and her family embraced the opportunity to establish a warm gathering place serving comforting, familiar fare.

Old Red Mill is proudly owned and operated by four equal partners: Amy Mills, her husband Mark Mills, and his brothers Richard Mills and JD Mills. Together, they share a vision of creating a welcoming place where good food and good company meet in the heart of the community.

We chose the name Old Red Mill as a nod to the site’s past. The building once held a storied legacy—first as a planned country store and museum, later known as the Fort Savannah. Sadly, a fire destroyed the original structure just before its opening. Over time, the name “Old Red Mill” resonated with locals. When establishing our restaurant, the Mills family embraced that heritage—and their shared surname—as inspiration.

Set inside a charming, historic log-cabin structure, our space is designed to invoke the feel of a classic general store, with rustic touches and warm accents that pay tribute to the land’s past.

At Old Red Mill, we specialize in hearty, comforting food that feels like home. Our menu ranges from fried pickles and beet salads to specialty burgers, loaded tater tots, brisket, and pizza. And because we believe sides matter, we offer four kinds of potatoes—house-cut chips, fries, mashed potatoes with gravy, and tots.

We also serve craft and local beer, embracing the flavors of our community.

We’re proud to be part of Lewisburg’s vibrant food scene—“America’s Best Small Town Food Scene”—bringing new choices and fresh energy to downtown.

Thank you for visiting us—come in, unwind, and enjoy a taste of comfort in a place that celebrates local roots and family tradition.
